| | pure fantasy, this, in August 2010, published by Andreas Gößling. At once the has had Klett-Cotta-Verlag send me a review copy what I have just got and want to thank them and their "Hobbit Presse. | | | |
Every beginning is difficult and so in this book. The prologue of the book is a bit muddled and confusing. There is only one the greatest magician and a Panther the language. Also the first chapter is like a roller-coaster ride, but despite all the obstacles is the only way the story really started rolling.
The protagonist in this story is Samu Radov, that lives and works in Phora, one of the main cities of the empire dunibischen. He has a shop for all kinds of theater and along the way he is the agent of the king, though he previously had to deal with the very unspectacular cases. Magic is always present in his world and he knows a little telepathy. Through his acquaintances in the city and magically gifted, he gets one day, an indication that strange murders happen in the city. Those killed missing virtually the brain stem and spine, but both are gone without a trace each time. The tracks lead to the circus near the city, arrived there he must also free like a human sacrifice from the clutches of the snake god. When he finds a changed into a tree, an archaeologist who also lack the brain stem and spine, takes this wonderful and exciting fantasy-thriller-action take its course ... designed
Very good and very detailed, the maps at the beginning and end of the book. First, the card is at the beginning: it shows the reader the whole world of Dunibien, with its seas and the city Phora that seems to be the center of the map. And the other is on End of the map of Phora set itself, with all the important locations and roads of history.
Also the whole story, as well as the new gods, religions and magic is a work of art and the protagonist and all the other minor characters fit well into the action. Andrew Goessling explained the figures in great detail and his focus is the explanation of all the little things in the environment of the protagonists. The tension and mystery situations are very well prepared, so imminent that fantasy lovers a great pleasure to read. You always have the feeling that everything is working against the agent, that he the secret of the murder cases can not uncover, but that is the voltage support for the entire plot.
What would have been very desirable, is a "round" at the end because, unfortunately, left open some questions. But maybe that should also refer to a possible further part of the book.
