TREATED AS CRIMINALS THE JOURNALISTS raids in Brussels against the Kurds, their media and device are a disgrace for Europe and the so gennannte best western democracy! comment Where should the Kurds still feel free to if not in Brussels, if not in Europe? reprisals On 4. March from 5.00 Clock stormed Belgian anti-terrorist units "along with Turkish-speaking colleagues, the studios of ROJ TV and Sterk Productions Denderleeuw in Brussels. In these studios will include the Kurdish television station Roj TV produced and broadcast. 300 police officers searched the rooms of the studios, destroying expensive and vital equipment for the broadcasting and arrested several journalists, employees.
The journalists were treated like criminals, handcuffed and held in the cafeteria under the supervision of Turkish-speaking security forces. These reprisals shows the true face of the globalized world. For the same time were searches across Belgium Kurdish institutions, including the building of the Kurdish National Congress (KNK) in Brussels, and numerous private homes.
This shows, that Belgian and European laws violate the legal legitimacy of Roj TV. The raids are clearly an attack on press freedom and also politically motivated.
have But do the government reprisals and measures against the Kurdish media in Europe in the narrowest sense neither censorship nor with press freedom, but are naked human rights violations, meaning the destruction of a people and their institutions with similar means as the Turkish.
But what are human rights? On human rights include the right to life and freedom, but also of expression and press freedom. In Belgium and in many other democratic countries these fundamental rights are in the Constitution. You may not unlike other laws are not changed or restricted.
deputy policy: The policy of extermination of the Turkish state is thus more in Europe. By European censorship and violation of human rights of expression and press freedom of the Kurds will be drastically reduced or even eliminated. Almost one might think, not in Europe but in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran or Somalia to live, not to say in the Germany of National Socialism from 1933 to 1945.
press freedom in danger? The UN declared 1991 the third May as World Press Freedom Day. This is intended to demonstrate the importance of press freedom for a functioning democracy and a free society. And the same goes for Europe and Brussels. The memorial also recalls that journalists be punished in many parts of the world for it to express their opinion, even threatening them that even torture and death.
reprisals and arrests but because Turkey wants it, look for censorship and surveillance of Kurds in Europe, where it just before these states and dictatorships protection, are naked human rights violations, a culpable violation of press freedom and democracy.
Brussels should not forget press freedom is a human rights and the Kurds are people!
