It's really been able to create a successful launch of a new fantasy series. At first I thought the blurb to House of Night, because it was a boarding school for magical creatures, and some points were very similar, but "Hex Hall" is quite different.
Sophie Mercer is a very likable protagonist and a very clumsy to do so. She takes her life to "Hecate Hall" with a dose of self irony and sarcasm, so that the reader has to smile a lot. The whole story reads really smoothly and with a touch of humor. The book pulled me through the pleasant style of writing very quickly under its spell. The individual chapters contain only a few pages, so that one out soon be tempted to read another chapter, which is not. Within one day I read the book completely and am now looking full of joy at the coming of the next volume.
The end was again a real surprise and a cliffhanger as to why you have to read the second volume easy. The cover is really enchantingly beautiful and a real eye-catcher. All in all I can recommend any "Hex Hall," who wants an exciting and very funny book, written in a fair amount of reading fantasy.
