"The DTP was banned on the same logic that since the PKK ban in Germany dozens of Kurdish cultural associations and hundreds of demonstrations and rallies were prohibited. " Spoke with Ms. Jelpke Rûdaw correspondent Resad Özkan.
interior ministers have decided that "tolerated" refugees are to remain in Germany and their tolerance status be extended for another two years. This means they will still continue to "tolerate" but not recognized. This is for most of an intolerable situation. Why no one is looking for a proper and humane solution?
Jelpke: interior ministers have decided that another regime will be extended to these people has brought a so-called residence permit on probation. If you can show any type of work, the "trial-residence" shall be extended, but some people have no chance to work, they will be tolerated only or deported. The right-wing Interior Minister argue that there should be no "immigration into the social systems." This is pure racism. All foreigners and refugees are portrayed as social parasites, the do not integrate. Unfortunately, many people share this view.
interior ministers speak of about 30,000 "tolerated" refugees. Is this figure to give an estimate or is it more? Where does the majority of these refugees?
Jelpke: These figures so I ask again and again by the federal government, there is really no reason to doubt it. Most of these refugees come from the states of the former Yugoslavia and are already in the 90s came to Germany. In addition to offering a suite of them from Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries such as Lebanon.
The conservative-liberal government plans to deport thousands of refugees to their home countries. Do you know how many Kurds - are exposed to this risk - for example, from Iraq or Syria?
Jelpke: We know that about 7,000 people in Syria are in acute danger of being deported because Syria was closed with a so-called "readmission agreements". In it, Syria has agreed to admit all, where there is any evidence of Syrian origin. How many among them are Kurds, we do not know, because in Germany is not concerned with ethnicity in the statistics. Again and again and Kurds from Turkey or Iraq to be deported, but their number is not as high.
still exists in Germany, the PKK ban. Suffer hundreds of Kurdish cultural associations and thousands of Kurds in Germany. Their naturalizations rejected, because they eventually contact or sympathy with the PKK or any of its "front organizations" had. Demonstrations and cultural events are prohibited. Homes or business premises to be searched for a suspected PKK of special forces. Is this prohibition and such measures are not a serious encroachment on human rights? For a long time your party promises to take action against the PKK ban. This is achieved in this legislature at last?
Jelpke: I totally agree with you that the PKK ban violated the fundamental rights of thousands of Kurds and finally be repealed. It has to live here Kurds be able to defend their interests in Germany as well as for a just peace in Kurdistan, without being persecuted as being criminals or terrorists. The PDS has been found since the 1993 ban PKK always against the political persecution of Kurds in Germany. By founding the new party Die Linke then a whole series of politicians to have met us, who have previously taken active as leader of the PKK members to ban or at least not questioned. Therefore, the opinions The Left within the party in this asked quite apart. This is a certain fear of some comrades, that we again attacked the bourgeois press as a terrorist Supported if we make us strong against the PKK ban.
The basic problem is the poor informed of so many comrades on the situation in Kurdistan and the concerns of the Kurds. Many still believe that the PKK aspire to an independent state. Unfortunately, it is in Germany, the politically active Kurds - including those within the left - so far not succeeded sufficiently, the current objectives of the Kurdish Freedom Movement and the ongoing debates on grassroots democracy and women's liberation to make clear.
The Turkish government has banned the Kurdish party, DTP. What will be, your opinion, affect the prohibition on politically in view of the situation of Kurds in Germany?
Jelpke: The DTP was banned by the same logic, have been banned since the PKK with the ban in Germany, dozens of Kurdish cultural associations and hundreds of demonstrations and rallies. Anyone who identifies with the liberation struggle in Kurdistan presumed to be PKKler and thus as a criminal or terrorist, without asking for their political goals. It is feared that the DTP ban in Turkey to further isolation Kurdish organizations will also result in Germany. Because once again it was suggested in the public that all Kurds are terrorists - even if they participate in Parliament. The more important is that to engage the Kurdish clubs and their members not only increased to Kurdish concerns, but in the context of the progressive, democratic forces, trade unions and the peace movement in Germany actively against war and neoliberalism.
for the Left Party were the politicians of the DTP one contact for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question. I hope that soon a new party with which we can get these ties.
